I'm in love with a breakup song

All of them actually. I love it when they're crying with their guitar, I love it when they're screaming and diving into a drum kit. FYI, My lifetime of workouts would each be 20 minutes shorter each AT LEAST without the Angry Breakup Song, so that's like, 200lbs right there that Angry Breakp Songs saved me from—thank you!!!!
Look, I know. It's super gory, like those people in that JG Ballard book who get all special-excited about car crashes. But! it's maybe the one little hint of of honesty, and super-comforting to hear some famous person bitching about how much it all hurts and sucks, speaking in that I'm-nuts-and-contradicting-myself-with-every-word, fragmented, "WINNING!!"-speak that we all you do when mid-breakup up with someone.
So, this is a section of breakup albums that i cottoned to while dating a total #*&% I was madly in love with. I think this might be a segment, so I will put this down just as my favorite breakup albums circa 2003-2008 (in my life, I dont know when the hell these things came out)

Beck, Seachange. I still cannot listen to this album. It came out what, like in 2002? I start getting nervous even just thinking about listening to this album, in particular, the song Lost Cause. I spent months researching the relationship breakup that made Beck write it. This will be a recurring theme.

The Comas, Conductor.
When I was working at NYLON in 2004, someone put this album on and casually said, oh this whole album is supposedly about Michelle Williams, and I was like, Dawson's Creek Michelle Williams, are you serious, and she was like, yeah, I know, can you believe it? and we pretty much played this thing on repeat for one year. It's great! I dont know whe they never became big, but the whole album, the song The Last Transmission in particular is great mix of sad and fun and angry.

The Flaming Lips, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. Just the opening track. Still makes me cry. I first heard it when I was in the middle of a long, dramatic relationship and I knew that whenever the stupid thing was over, this song was going to resonate in some way with the aftermath. It does. I love this song but I will totally kill you if you try to make me listen to it.

Bob Dylan, Blood on the Tracks. Soooooooooooo intense.... I can barely write the title, his name, those words out.  Sara Lownds, i love her for being so graceful—she's maybe the last hidden persona left in the world.

so, whatever, I dont know why I am writing about this really. I think it's because I like the new Avril Lavigne song (yeah, you heard me!) that's all about her divorce even though yesterday on the Today Show she wouldn't let poor Matt Lauer even mention the divorce while he interviewed her. I couldn't believe he respected such a weird edict, but god love him, he did. Not a fan of hers. But LOVE that new song!
